Look who I got to meet today… the sweetest little six week old, Amaya. Bet you can’t resist falling in love with this face…

  • Emma - Absolutely beautiful. Priceless. You are truly talented and I look forward not only to seeing the rest of the photos from our session but having you shoot our family again and again!
    Thank you so much!

  • Emil - I LOVE MY NIECE!!! Oh my goodness. Can’t wait to see the rest!

  • Emilee - Aw! I love this. She is precious! You’ve got to share more, she’s too adorable!

  • Rachel - OMG! This is a beautiful photo! Love that hat. 🙂

Thank you to everyone who has left comments and sent e-mails to wish Chloe luck with her surgery! We really appreciate all the kind thoughts. Chloe’s surgery went very well and she got to come home today. She’s been drowsy, but seems quite happy to be home. And we’re very happy to have our girl back. We’ve been doing our best to make her comfortable. She has settled in on the floor, wrapped up in her favorite fleece blanket. Her poor little chicken leg is all shaved up. This is the better side. I decided not to share the actual wound photo. You’re welcome…

And if this isn’t the most adorable puppy-vicodin induced gaze, I don’t know what is…

  • Melissa - I’m so glad she’s home and doing well!

  • Becky Serpe - Hi April! I’m so glad Chloe is home and doing well!!!!

  • Jennie - Awww, glad she is okay! I love the post-surgery gaze!

  • Christy - Awwww. Poor Chloe. I hope she’s back to her normal self and feeling better soon!
Just thinking about the wound makes my knees weak.

  • leesia - aw, poor dear. hope she feels better soon!

  • Nicci - Poor little babe…she looks comfy though 🙂

  • Emilee - I’m so glad the surgery went well! I hope she gets all better soon!

  • Dana - We call our pups leg chicken legs too. Glad she is home resting up!

  • Grace - Awww what kind of surgery did she have? Knee? Glad all went well and she’s home safe and sound! When Maeby had her surgery we called it a turkey leg… probably because she’s twice the size of Chloe 🙂

  • AmandaD - so sorry to hear about Chloe! I went through all that with Zoe last year. Hope she is doing well now 🙂

When I was a little girl, I loved the Wizard of Oz. I would watch, with bright eyes and wonder, as Dorothy opened the door to Munchkinland. And I gasped. Every. Single. Time. I would pretend to be Dorothy, and instantly be transported to a land of childhood dreams. My Mom’s burgundy heels made a suitable substitute for ruby slippers, as I awkwardly tried to click the heels together of shoes that were four inches too long for my feet. How delightful it would be to go back to a time so full of magical possibilities.

When we headed out on our photo shoot and arrived at the greenhouse to find that Josie had secretly ditched her coordinating black shoes in favor of her ruby slippers, I had to laugh. She’s my kind of girl. This is my favorite image from the session because it epitomizes all that childhood is… a time in life when there’s nothing more magical than a pair of well-worn ruby slippers…

  • Grace - The scuffed shoes (or is that snow) and the toes turned inward just add so much to the shot. Lovely!

  • Emilee - Aw, I love it! I wish I had ruby slippers when I was a little girl. 🙂

  • Rachel - This is adorable! I love the loose tights and legs turned in a little. How cute!

  • leesia - this is so lovely!

  • Nicci - Yes, the loose tights, I can still remember how that felt on my younger legs!

This weekend was a harsh reminder that indeed, it is still winter. As I was snuggled on the sofa, catching up on all the shows that I DVR’ed during the week, I looked out the window to see the snowflakes falling and our birdfeeder all covered in ice. But it didn’t seem like the birds were bothered by the icicles…

  • melissa - I love ice pictures. Fortunately we haven’t had any ice like that here in OK yet.

  • Grace - Man, I miss ice.

  • Emilee - I just love ice shots, too. I wish I could see something like this in person (although I’m sure if you’re used to the ice you hate it 😉 )!

  • Judy Gross - I hate winter but these pictures are beautiful!

  • Jamie - these are beautiful shots, just beautiful.
