One of the things that has been important to me since I became a pet photographer is volunteering. When I first started photographing pets, I volunteered to take Petfinder photos of dogs that were looking for homes at a shelter in Philadelphia. I loved being able to use my camera to help and I learned so much during that time. Working with shelter dogs is challenging, but it’s so rewarding. And let’s face it… all the doggie snuggles that I get while there are good for the soul. I have since had several people contact me telling me that the Petfinder photo that they saw is what drew them to the shelter, so I have no doubt that good photos of these dogs are invaluable. So when one of my clients told me that they were looking for volunteer photographers at the Brandywine Valley SPCA, I didn’t have to think twice about signing up. Last week was my first week at the shelter, and below are some of the sweet pups that I photographed (and fell in love with, because really… how could you NOT?!?). If you’re looking for a new furry family member, the Brandywine Valley SPCA has so many adorable dogs and cats looking for homes…
