This weekend was rather nasty, weather-wise. Snow, rain, ice, and all that fun stuff. It was a perfect weekend for staying in your jammies all weekend long. And not having any shame in going out in the snow in your jammies just to take photos of your dog. Not that I did that. I’m just saying…

This is the big week… Chloe’s surgery is scheduled for Thursday. I’m sure that I’ll be far more anxious about the whole event than she will. I just hope that she has a speedy and as painless as possible recovery.

And Lucy out in the snow. She loves it. Even when her legs start to tremble from being so cold, she does not want to come back inside. And yes, I am aware that she desperately needs to be groomed. She’s a mess. We’re on it. She’ll be going in for her first haircut this week…

  • Dana - Good luck to Chloe and a speedy recovery!

  • Misty Dawn - OMG your dogs are too precious! I feel ya on the woes of a dog who needs constant grooming….I have a shih-tzu. LOL Best of luck to Chloe for her surgery! I will certainly keep her in my thoughts. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Christy - This is just what I needed to see tonight. It instantly puts a smile on my face. ๐Ÿ™‚
    I’ll be thinking of Chloe.
    ((HUGS))

  • claire - love that top photo of chloe! what a face. how are they getting along?? our girls are become best buddies, it’s a relief!

  • melissa - Good thoughts for Chloe from this side – and Lucy is getting cuter and cuter! Could I borrow her for a bit?!

  • Grace - Sending Chloe lots of healing thoughts! Your puppies are adorable.

  • Emilee - I hope everything goes well with Chloe’s surgery! She’ll be in my thoughts. And you’ll have to share some before/after shots of a freshly groomed Lucy! ๐Ÿ˜€

I’ve wanted to photograph a proposal for a long time. I knew it would be so special to get to capture that moment… the moment when a couple decides to share their life together. Not very many people are lucky enough to have that moment to look back on. So when Jamie asked me to be there to photograph when he proposed to Candy, I was nothing less than thrilled.ย

He planned to propose at the Kelly family Christmas party. I was stoked to get to attend because any Kelly event is guaranteed to be a good time… They’re an awesomely fun group. This party did not disappoint. I have elected myself an honorary Kelly family member so that I can attend next year’s party as well. I hope they don’t mind. =) I will tell the story behind how the proposal happened, since I’m not sure you will pick it up from photos alone. When each family arrived, they were given a small, wooden, red box that contained a piece of paper. They were to write their wish for the new year. The boxes would then be mixed up and handed out at random so each family would read another family’s wish. What a great idea. The wishes ranged from sweet and serious to completely hilarious. Some wished for health and happiness, new jobs, and more babies! Someone wished for Nan & Pop to get a new pool. Ha. Jamie and Candy were strategically placed at the end of the circle with their little red box. When it came to be their turn, Jamie opened up the box and pulled out a piece of paper that read, “Candy, will you marry me?” He read it aloud as he got on one knee with the ring. Everyone was shocked! No one saw it coming… Jamie had kept it a secret to make sure that Candy didn’t catch wind of it beforehand. What a plan, right? There were tears and smiles all around the room. There’s no need for me to explain how much Jamie loves Candy, you can see it. The expression on his face in these images speaks for itself. ย ย

Happy wedding planning, you two! I wish you all the happiness in the world.

My first session of 2009! Woot. I started the year off right. The R family and I got together last weekend for their family session. They happen to be our neighbors so that made things nice and easy. We took some photos around their place, and then headed to a local greenhouse… A greenhouse was the perfect winter location: greenery without the harsh winter temperatures.

I had to smile when I saw this image on the back of my camera. Seriously. Look at these two…

  • Naomi - Oh I love them!!! I have been checking your page everyday cause I couldn’t wait! Thank you so much April! Great Job!
