It’s about time for some new photos of my girls. I feel like I haven’t had time to photograph them recently so I took some time yesterday afternoon, while it was warm and the sunlight was being filtered just perfectly by the clouds, to take them outside to play and get a few shots of them. Here’s Chloe, guarding the front door. Don’t be deceived by her small size, her attitude is quite large…Β

And Lucy. Her images always call for black and white. She’s ready for a haircut, the eyebrows are getting wild. But I like how you can see where her legs were shaved when she got fixed and then it poofs out on the bottom. She almost has a poodle-type cut…

  • Christy - Beautiful girls! Yeah, I know a little about the size and the attitude with small pups. πŸ™‚

  • Grace - I love how regal Chloe looks. Such an adorable expression.

I had a table set up at Bullyfest. This is a first for me. I was thrilled about this opportunity even though, quite honestly, it is intimidating to put your work out there for others to see and critique. But I knew the bully owners would take it easy on me. They’re good folks. Here’s a quick snap of what my display looked like…Β

One of the glass bowls that you see was a drawing for a free photo session and an 8×10 print. So many awesome people stopped to fill out an entry and I wish I could have picked more than one. I hope that even if your name wasn’t chosen you’ll contact me to set up a session because I just love all those sweet, wrinkly faces. I asked my husband to close his eyes and choose the lucky winner…

And the winner is….

ANGUS!!!! Β And his owner, Robyn!Β

So you can put a face to the name, here is the winner… Angus, at Bullyfest!Β

  • Li W. - Congrats Angus! Your table looks awesome. What kind of products did you showcase?

  • Stephanie - April Your Table Rocks! Congrats to Angus. Lucky Dawg You πŸ™‚

  • april - Thanks! I wish I had more bigger prints. And it would have been helpful to have something w/ levels since it’s hard to set them up where you can clearly see them all. What you see here is a 16×20 canvas & 16×20 framed and mounted print on the easels. On the table there are 2 11×14 canvases, a 10×20 storyboard, an 8×10 framed print, 8×10 gallery mount, 8×10 standout, a 6×6 photo tile, 2 5×7 prints, and a 5×5 framed print. I think that’s all. Shoot me an e-mail if you have any questions about them. =)

  • Dana - yay! sounds like a perfect weekend and congrats to the winner! πŸ™‚

Today was the 7th Annual Mid-Atlantic Bullyfest hosted by HeavenSent Bulldog Rescue… and it was wildly successful! And an amazingly fun time. The weather was unseasonably warm, which made it a perfect day to be outdoors but got a bit warm for the poor bullies. They are not warm weather dogs, that’s for sure. Thank you to all who came out to support this wonderful rescue. And to all who stopped by my table to check out my work and say hi. I could not have even anticipated how many bulldogs showed up, owners in tow. I was lucky enough to photograph some of them… I wish I could have gotten to more!Β

I can hardly wait to go through the images, but right now I’m exhausted. Manny understands. This sweet bulldog is available for adoption. Contact HeavenSent if you’re interested in adding on to your family.

Yes… I feel the same way Manny…

  • Emily Beaty - adorable!

  • Sarah Lockard - You have outdone yourself yet again!!!!!!!!!!
Kudos, congrats, keep up the great work.

When I first saw Beantown Handmade’s Etsy store, I had to restrain myself from ordering 50 of her awesomely handmade dog hats. As badly as I wanted one, I know how Chloe feels about anything on her head. We all remember her Halloween costume

Instead, I decided to order one of her custom handpainted pet portrait pendants. I chose the photo of a client’s bulldog Lilly, so I can wear it tomorrow at Bullyfest… and it’s perfect! But I will be ordering pendants of my own pups too. If you’re at Bullfyest tomorrow, please stop by and say hi!

  • Bernadette - Oh, how cute is that?! I am now in love with that etsy shop….I think I need to shop a little for Kia!

  • Jennie Sloan - Oh my gosh these are awesome! I’m asking for one for my birthday!

  • Emily~ DreamEyce - Her work is adorable! I love, and collect wearable dog art (And make some myself) so will have to add this shop on my etsy faves!

Photographing dogs can be hard! Particularly if you have a dog that is inattentive, unbribeable, and tirelessly energetic. Things do not always go as planned. But that’s ok. Who needs plans anyway? This pup’s mama was worried that her feisty little chihuahua would not cooperate for the shoot. The solution? Put her up on a chair… Captive subjects are so much easier to photograph. Please do not leave your pet unattended though, as they may not recognize that it’s dangerous to jump from a chair, stool, table, etc. Safety first. Molly’s mama was right outside of the frame, just in case…

  • Stephanie - The chair must be the universal savior for pet photographers. I had to do the same thing when I shot a 3 month old Frenchie. Chairs are the best. Super cute shot of Molly πŸ™‚
