I’ve mentioned before about how much I love labs. They’re such energetic, happy dogs. In fact, when Kev and I talked about getting a dog, a chocolate lab was at the top of my list. But we figured that a big dog in a small house just wasn’t a good idea. I’m still holding on to my dream of a chocolate lab when we upgrade to a bigger place.

Maggie is an older gal, but still holds on to her youthful charm. She keeps up with the young pups that spend their days with her. Look at this happy face…

Hello there, closeup… Love me some doggy distortion…

  • Emily Beaty - Awhhhh you know I love chocolate labs. 🙂 I love the last one with the head tilt. So cute!

  • Nick - SHe is a very pretty girl indeed 🙂 Stands out nicely on the lush grass 😀

** CASTING CALL IS CLOSED! Wow. What a fantastic response. Thank you to all that sent entries!! Stay tuned for future casting calls. **

Calling all dogs {and dog owners}! I am looking for four to five willing models to participate in a shoot featuring some fabulous Wacky Walk’r products. They are looking for some new faces to represent their company, and your dog could be a star. Wacky Walk’r is a local leash company that offers an innovative new leash style… It is made of rubber tubing, which lessens the stress on both you and your pet, particularly for pets that pull or jerk roughly on a leash. And one of my favorite parts… they come in some super fun colors!

For your time, you’ll receive:

* A high-resolution digital file of your pup with printing rights, and a web version to show off your pup online ($100 value)

* A Wacky Walk’r leash of your choice

To apply, you must be available September 5 or 6 (Labor Day weekend). Date will be determined based on applicant’s availability. The shoot will last approximiately 45 minutes and will be held in or around Collegeville, Pa. Your photogenic pooch should have good leash-walking manners and a grasp of basic commands like sit and stay. To apply, please send me an e-mail at aprilziegler@gmail.com with your name, dog’s name, dog’s breed, and date availability. I will update this post when the spots have been filled. Thank you!

  • john...of johnwairephoto - very cool april. too bad henry is NOT a good listener 🙂

  • Caitlin - Noooooooo! The ONLY weekend we’ll be away out of the whole year!!!

I like to think Stretch is amazingly photogenic….:(

  • aimee - darn, my Franklin Moose is incredibly photogenic but does not behave well on-lead (at least not with other dogs around, a bit aggressive, we’ve been working on it)! I was hoping this was an off-leash shoot. Would love to get him in print work, or commercials, but don’t know where to start. he’s too smart for his own good and learns cues FAST!

  • wendy - I’ve always thought the Wacky Walk’rs looked like great products but I’ve never seen them in a store in Canada. 🙁 Can’t wait to see your pictures!

Rachel + Chris are getting married in October in JAMAICA! I love this for several reasons… 1. I’m a huge fan of destination weddings, being a destination bride myself. There’s not much that can beat the feel of the sand on your feet and the Caribbean as a backdrop for your wedding ceremony. 2. They’re taking me with them! Yep, I’m shooting a destination wedding and cannot wait. I couldn’t ask for a more perfect couple… they’re sweet, and so funny, we giggled through the whole engagement session… not to mention that they have an adorable little boy. I hope he keeps his rockin mohawk for the wedding!

Pretty sure that Rachel will be a stunning bride…

Hello, bling!

One of my all-time favorite couple shots…

  • Allison - Wow April – Amazing work! Destination Brides Rock!

  • Jen Messa - Love it, you take amazing pictures!!

It’s been awhile since I posted a Monster Monday with shots of my girls. When things get busy, they get a break from their jobs of being my models. This weekend I grabbed a few snapshots…

  • sarah - god i love lucy.

  • Nancy - What cute girls you have!

  • Jennie - Lucy has scrumptious ears.

  • kelly g - Goodness!!!!! I just love them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Rose - Chloe has on her sweet face! She does love to be outside.

  • Jessica Wright - They are so adorable!

  • becky - Glad they are back – I missed them!

I often get asked if I photograph pets other than dogs. Of course! I don’t discrimate against other pets. Last weekend I got to do my first cat session! Clifford wasn’t exactly thrilled about getting his photo taken, but he was tolerant and even seemed to start getting in to modeling for the camera after awhile… which resulted in one of my favorite pet images ever…

Clifford’s mini-me…

I’m pretty sure that Clifford was NOT in the mood to play…
