These are much overdue but too sweet not to share… This was the first year that I did holiday PJ mini sessions and I loved them! They will for sure be on the calendar for 2018 as well. So many littles showed up in the holiday jammies to pose for the camera. And since I didn’t want to spoil any Christmas surprises, I waited until after the holidays to share them. Below are some favorites from the holiday PJ minis…

My little girl has finally grown out of her nursery and into a big girl room. To be honest, it was long overdue. She had gotten to the point where her toes touched the end of her crib-turned-toddler-bed. She wasn’t thrilled about the owl-themed room that we dreamed up when she was just a little bean in my belly. (You can see her nursery here: http://www.aprilziegler.com/charlottes-nursery-reveal). I was a little sad about changing her baby room, but I wanted her to have something that was more little girl, more pink, more Charlotte. My mother-in-law offered to gift Charlotte with a newly designed bedroom for her birthday, and so it began.

The most fun part was that Charlotte wanted it to be a surprise. She requested butterflies and, of course, pink. So though we wanted to keep the neutral wall color, we threw in a lot of pink in the decor. We traded out the glider for a pink desk and the owl prints with some photographs that I took of flowers in our own garden, accented with 3D butterfly stickers. One of my favorite parts of the room is a watercolor world scratch-off map. You scratch off the places you’ve been to reveal watercolor underneath. I loved this idea because I thought it may make her more excited for travel and I love that you can see that there’s so much more of the world to explore!

Charlotte didn’t see any of her new room until the reveal. Her reaction was priceless… she was SO excited! She loves her new room…

I have a soft spot for December babies. Sweet little Charlotte was in the studio at 8 days old, along with her pup Zoey. Below are some photos from Charlotte’s newborn session. One of my favorites is the last one because Diane + Adam used a similar photo to announce their pregnancy with Zoey in her Superman t-shirt and a sign saying, “Every superhero needs a sidekick.” I loved getting to recreate that photo with Charlotte and Zoey together…

2017 was a great year and I’m so thankful for all the babies, families, and dogs that I’ve gotten to photograph! I went back through each of my sessions and grabbed a photo so that you can get a little look into what my year looked like…

Last year, I loved doing Christmas jammie photos of my girl so I had to do them again. This year, with our sweet new addition… Mango. And while it’s exponentially harder to do holiday photos involving a 2.5 month old kitten, I’m happy that we were able to get photos of Charlotte and her first little pet while he’s still teeny tiny and very tolerant of her unending affection…
