They actually met as toddlers. Though their moms worked together, Denise + Travis refused to play together. When their paths crossed again freshman year in high school, things had changed. They both grew to love being able to make the other laugh, through the good times and the bad. And in February 2009, they decided to expand their family, and add an immeasurable amount of laughter, with the addition of a Boston Terrier puppy named Stella. One April morning, Travis took Stella outside and then attached a small jewelry bag to her collar. Stella ran to the bedroom to show Denise what was suggested was in the bag, a puppy tooth that was lost the night before. Denise opened the bag to find a beautiful diamond ring and Travis asking her to marry him. Stella has become such a big part of their lives, and such a source of shared happiness, that it was only appropriate that she be included in the proposal. And, of course, in their engagement photos too! You know I never complain about couples that want to include their pets in their engagement or wedding photos!
I fully intended to post a recap of this year’s Philly PAWS Mutt Strut earlier, but I figured that it’s never too late for pups in costume. It was a hugely successful event and an honor to be a part of it yet again this year. Enjoy a small recap of this year’s event benefiting Philadelphia’s homeless pets…
It was a chilly Sunday morning, and I arrived at their house to find Twinkie curled up on a blanket on the couch. Despite being blind and deaf, he knew right away when Kim brought a treat from the kitchen and layed it on the arm of the sofa. He was excited when we headed out for a walk… confidant in his knowledge of the area, even without being able to see it. He lifted his nose into the air often, to take in the neighborhood smells. He had a few bumps along the way, but Kim kept him on the right track. And though he wandered a little in the park, he always found his way back to Kim, climbing up into her lap…
Jenni + Matt wanted to do their engagement photos in a location where they spend a lot of time together… Running. They’re training for a marathon next month! The scenery doesn’t get much better than the Art Museum area when you’re running. And ironically, as we stood on the famous steps in front of the museum, we saw hundreds of people make their way down the parkway right in front of us for a 5K run.
Jenni + Matt… thank you for getting up early to join me before your 20-miler. I hope it was kind to you!
